High Commissioner of Maldives to Bangladesh, Her Excellency Shiuneen Rasheed, attended as Guest of Honour at the seminar titled “Harnessing the Youth Dividend: Strategic Imperatives for Bangladesh in a Changing World”. The event was jointly organised by the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS), and the Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka, at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium.
The seminar brought together former diplomats, academics, youth representatives and students creating a platform for cross sectional dialogue. The initiative aimed to involve such diverse voices to ensure a comprehensive understanding of how youth can contribute to various national and international sectors.
In her remarks, the High Commissioner described this “youth dividend” as a strategic advantage, emphasizing the urgency for sound policy, sustained investment and a shared commitment to transform this opportunity into lasting progress.
She highlighted that Bangladesh’s youth are already demonstrating their capabilities across different sectors and that the youth are not merely the hope for the future, but active architects of the present. The High Commissioner also emphasised on the shared urgency and opportunities between Maldives and Bangladesh as climate-vulnerable nations and called on the potential for collaboration between the youth of both nations in areas of climate action, digital innovation, and cultural exchange.
