High Commissioner Shiuneen Rasheed met with Brigadier General Golam Ferdous, Director of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), to discuss potential collaborations aimed at enhancing medical education and furthering the training and development of Maldivian medical students.

During the meeting held at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, the High Commissioner discussed on opportunities for Maldivian students to receive hands-on training, internships, and specialised training at the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and expressed shared commitment to advancing medical education in the Maldives. She also highlighted the importance of equipping future healthcare professionals with the necessary skills to meet the evolving healthcare needs.

Brig. Gen. Ferdous expressed his willingness to explore various academic and clinical collaboration models and extend MMCH’s resources and expertise to support the development of Maldivian medical professionals.

This initiative is in line with ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare capacity in the Maldives.

High Commissioner Shiuneen Rasheed called on Nurjahan Begum, Adviser for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of Bangladesh, this morning.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the High Commissioner and the Adviser discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in health and medical education sectors. The High Commissioner highlighted longstanding partnership between the two nations and expressed gratitude for Bangladesh's continued support in developing Maldivian healthcare professionals.

Key areas of discussion included expanding opportunities for specialised nursing training programmes and internship placements for Maldivian medical students in Bangladesh.

The meeting concluded with the mutual commitment to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Bangladesh in the healthcare sector.
